Happy Halloween!

Today is the Big Bad Wolf's first time trick or treating, I think he's going to make the cutest wolf around. We decided to make it a family affair and I am going as Little Red and D. is going as the woodcutter. For baby's costume, I wanted to get him this sweet one from etsy, but the price ($55.00) was a little too steep for me. So I got some fleece from Joann Fabric, which was running a great sale and I just figured out a pattern and made Little Baby this wolfie costume for a whopping $2.70. I must say, I am a bit proud of myself. *Pat self on back* I am new to sewing and I was a bit doubtful of my skills, but I am happy to have pulled it off and it looks strikingly similar to the one I found on etsy. My cape is the bottom of a skirt that I cut off a long time ago and the hat was out of my collection. Yes, I do wear this gnome/pixie/Little Red hat on a regular basis when it is chilly outside. :)

Blast from the Past

D. and I had nowhere to go on Halloween, except for Chipotle, but that didn't keep us from dressing up! Please pardon the mirror photo and poor lighting, it's the best we could do!

I drew a little mustache and goatee on D. I told him it kind of resembled el diablo. The Ray-Bans helped to pull the look together though.

This was a pretty easy costume to throw together, if I wasn't planning a wedding during the month of October, I might have had more time to invest in my costume, but overall I liked the look. My boots turned out pretty good too! D. and I had so much fun wearing our costumes, we grabbed our donut masks and headed out the door to Chipotle. We came back and handed out candy to four trick-o-treaters. There weren't too many around, which turned out to be a good thing since we only had a small bag of Werther's.

Thrift stores and go-go boots

I am new to this little town that I find myself living in, but I am quickly realizing that they are not fans of thrift shops. I have seen several donation drop off sites, but second hand stores are at a premium. I turned to the trusty internet and I found some thrift stores 10 miles away. Let me tell you, ten miles around here gets you pretty far; I suddenly found myself in an area surrounded by cops and bail bonds places. The thrift stores weren't so hot either. I did however, find some boots at the Salvation Army, and I had the marvelous idea to spray paint them white. I didn't think my chances were too high of finding patent leather go-go boots, but I am quite satisfied with the end result of my DIY job.

Halloween Inspiration

Every year I look forward to dressing up for Halloween. I can always think of good costumes in the months prior to October and then the months after October. But when Halloween actually rolls around, I forget about all of those marvelous ideas. After much thought, I did manage to think up a couple of good costumes. Since d. and I are newly married, I thought it might be fun for us to wear similar costumes. I am going as Twiggy.

I have the perfect outfit for this, but I left it up at d.'s parent's house, oh no!

I think I want to be Twiggy just so I can have fun eye makeup and eyelashes.

I don't think I'll do the long underwear look, I will go much more mod.

D. is going to be a beatnik.

Riding the Rails

With Halloween right around the corner I've been trying to narrow down an idea for a costume, well I do believe I've decided on the perfect one... an old fashioned hobo. Yep, tonight while shopping with my sister at Target we stumbled across the perfect felt hat that inspired us to be old fashioned hobos for Halloween. I then proceeded to mention the costume idea to my boyfriend and now we are all going to be a happy little trio of hobos.


Oh to be a happy carefree hobo!


A few necessary hobo items, a five o'clock shadow, a kerchief knapsack, a beat up hat, patched up clothes, a can of beans, fingerless gloves, a bow tie or suspenders, a rolled up newspaper and perhaps a scruffy dog.
